About Fehns

The Cake & Cookie shop was purchased in 1980 by William and Augusta Fehn. It was a family affair, with all four children working side by side with their parents. Heidi and Debbie managed the store, while “Brother Bill” and Kathy went on to study at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America. Upon graduation, Billy moved to Germany to become a Master Pastry Chef, and Kathy became a Pastry Chef at the famed Waldorf Astoria in NYC. After several years at the Waldorf, Kathy returned home to the Cake & Cookie Shop.

After 40 years in the industry, Bill and Gussie decided it was time to retire. With the business up for sale, Heidi & Kathy decided that the family business was too precious to be sold. After years of starting work in the wee hours of the morning, weekends & holidays; crazy as it sounds, Kathy & Heidi became the proud new owners.

In March 2004, after major renovations, “Fehn’s Cake & Cookie Shop” was in business. And in 2009, in keeping with family tradition, Kathy now runs the business and is the main Pastry Chef.

We are a full line bakery with everything from breads to wedding cakes. After many requests from the businesses we supply and our customers who have relocated from the neighborhood, our delicious butter cookies can now be shipped throughout the United States.
